My Poor "Mutant" Sunni D.

My poor little Sunni D. almost got killed a couple of days ago. She likes to sit on my shoulder while I go out and get the mail, and I have been cautious for years doing this so she doesn't get startled, and fly off my shoulder and into the road. With her wings cut, she can't fly very far anyway. Well, I got the mail, and a semi came by and had an extra amount of wind that it brought with it, and it startled her majorly and she started to fly off my shoulder. I tried catching her but only could grab her tail feathers. She was so scared she pulled away from me and all 8-10 tail feathers came out and blew away in the wind. She landed in the road, and there were about 12 cars backed up behind the semi. The first car saw my bird go in the road and stopped. Sunni was so frightened, she kept leaping all over the road and I couldn't catch her. She was all out of balance with her tail feathers gone. All of these cars were waiting for me, and I finally got her in my arms and out of the road. She was in distress, and I feel so bad when I look at her tailess body. She looks like a mutant cockatiel. Both Kim and I feel sorry for her. Cockatiels have 'blood' feathers in their tails, and they can bleed to death if you yank it out, but I didn't see any blood. Poor Sunni D.
Tank looked like that all the time. They grow back pretty quick! Im glad she is ok though.:}
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...haha! I feel sorry for the bird, but I can't deny the fact that I was laughing hysterically while reading that story...I can just see you running around the road trying to catch that darn bird! I can't wait to read what Shane has to say about this....haha! Get well soon Sunni! :)
ReplyDeleteditto to Kara, I am dieing to read what Shane will write.. twiddling fingers waiting. I never thought I'd actually admit that I do feel sorry for your bird and I am glad a car did not hit her. That would have made me sad. Poor Sunni, you are in our thoughts, especially Jon & Madam Mimm's. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, but I can't get that image out of my mind of you in the street with cars waiting for you to catch your bird. I can't stop giggling every time I think about it. Glad the bird is okay and I'm glad you didn't get hit by a car either!!
