I thought I would put pictures of our wood stove wall and bookcase. Because it is about to change, thanks to Wes. He makes entertainment centers over fireplaces where he works. He does such gorgous work, and I want his carpentry skills in my home. He took all of the things he likes about things he has built, and put those ideas into our bookcase and 'soon-to-be' gas fireplace. He hand picked all of the cabinetry doors, and counter top wood, so it has really awesome knot holes. I have seen the wood doors so far, and the doors with glass, and the bookcase counter top. I am so excited to see it all come together. I guess it is totally done now, and we are going to go and see it tomorrow. However, we are not going to have it installed until the threat of flooding in our home is non-existent. And that is still a ways away. A LONG ways away. So it makes me antsy. So here is a picture of the existing wall. When the new wall is installed, which will probably be a month at the least, I will show the difference. The problem with tearing out all of this rock on the wall, and the hearth floor, and stove, it will leave a blank space on our floor with no carpet. And that means we have to replace the carpet also, (dang) which is exciting because our carpet is not in the best shape any more anyway. And, to go a step further, the legs on our couch keep breaking off, and we keep fixing them. (New couch maybe?) And the space above the new fireplace hearth will have a large hole for a TV, so.........yup. We are looking to fill the space. (To Kim's unamusement, that is.)
